Metz- Our Home for the Summer

We met up with Georgia Tech Lorraine (GTL) people at the rendez-vous point of McDonalds (of course) and then took a really nice Mercedes Benz Charter bus for a 3 hour ride to Metz. It was a lot easier to sleep on the bus than the plane, but I tried to stay up because the scenery as we drove through Germany was soo beautiful! The land was surprisingly plush and bright green and clean! We had about an hour to get settled in to our apartments which are really nice before going to a dinner at the school! We each had our own bathroom and little kitchenette area and Bethany, Dan, Emilio, and Katy all got on the same hall in La Fayette and Timmy Shashank and Pranav were on the other part of town in Crous.  The Dinner at the school was pretty good and after that a group of us walked to the local grocery store called Cora to get all the things we forgot to pack.

Arrival to Europe

Tuesday was just an orientation day so we met some of the faculty and got tours of the school building. We then had to make another run to Cora to get food for the week (we’ve ended up having to go there every single day the first week).

The four of us on our hall and Emilio’s girlfriend at the time who lived on a different hall decided to do family-style dinners every night instead of going out to eat.  We take the tables from 2 people’s room and put them together to make one big table and it works out pretty well. The meals were all delicious and it’s been a fun way to meet other people on the hall because we usually invited some guests too.

The funniest thing we saw in Metz is a sign for the hangover part 2- I guess they don't have a word for hangover so it was entitled something else- Very Bad Trip 2 hahaha
